About the area

Via Lattea spreads 251 km of piste across the Piedmont border country, and the balance tells you who it is for. Blue and red runs dominate (88 km blue, 122 km red), so intermediates have the most to work with, while 105 km of easy terrain — 42% of the area — plus 17 magic carpets and 79 nursery runs make it a solid choice for beginners and families. Experts get caveats: only 21 km of black piste (9% of the network) and a maximum vertical of 675 m on a single descent.

Five bases share the network. Claviere, Montgenèvre and Sauze d'Oulx are ski-in-ski-out (120–191 m to a lift), Sestriere is a 332 m walk and Cesana Torinese 880 m. There are 87 lifts, mostly chairlifts (40) plus 6 gondolas. Skiing runs from 1385 m to 2786 m, a 1401 m span, with a longest run of 5930 m, 4 km of cross-country trails and 1 km of floodlit piste.
