Ramsau am Dachstein is a small beginner's area: about 20 km of pistes, of which 17 km (82%) are green or blue. Red terrain adds up to roughly 3 km and black or freeride terrain to about 1 km, just 4% of the area, so experts will run out of options quickly. Families can use it, though there is only one magic carpet for first steps.
The lift system is simple and old-school: 10 lifts, six of them T-bars, plus a rope tow, a drag lift, a mixed lift and the magic carpet. Skiing runs between 1,130 m and 1,494 m, so the slopes sit at moderate altitude rather than high alpine. Cross-country skiers get 22 km of trails, which makes the village a reasonable base for combining easy downhill days with nordic. The area belongs to the Schladming Dachstein region.
