About the area

Skiresort Černá Hora-Pec in the Giant Mountains spreads 44 km of pistes across several hills, and almost half of it (48%, about 21 km) is green or blue. Only 1 km, or 3%, counts as black, so strong skiers looking for steep terrain will run out of options quickly; the longest single descent gives 355 m of vertical. For beginners and families the picture is different: 6 magic carpets, 23 short easy runs right next to a lift base, and 3 gondolas that let small children board without a moving chairlift.

The area works from a low base at 563 m up to 1,279 m, so the higher slopes hold snow longer than the valley ones. In total 58 lifts serve the resort, including 7 chairlifts, 14 T-bars and 25 platters. The longest run measures 1,514 m, and there is around 2 km of cross-country trail.
