Wurzeralm
About the area
Wurzeralm is a mid-sized Upper Austrian area with about 22 km of pistes, and half of that (11 km) is green or blue, so beginners have plenty of room. Three magic carpets cover the first steps, and there are 15 short easy runs grouped next to a lift base, which keeps early days simple. Around 10 km of red pistes give confident intermediates something to work through. Experts will run out of material quickly: only 1 km, or 4%, is black or freeride terrain.
Access is from the valley at 807 m via the funicular, with skiing up to 1859 m and a maximum vertical of 707 m on a single run. The longest descent measures 3735 m. In total there are 19 lifts, including 2 chairs and 3 T-bars. For a change of pace, 4 km of cross-country trails are available. Families should note the terrain is easy but compact.
