About the area

Stubai offers about 90 km of pistes, and the balance leans to easy and mid-range skiing: 45% of the runs are green or blue, some 41 km in total, with roughly 37 km of red on top. That makes it a solid choice for beginners and improving intermediates, helped by nine magic carpets and four short easy runs right next to a lift base. Families get a further advantage: ten gondola or cable-car lifts mean no chairlift loading with small children. Experts should temper expectations — only 14% of the terrain, about 13 km, is black, expert or freeride.

There are 43 lifts in all, including ten gondolas, nine chairlifts and ten T-bars. The area spans 958 m to 3,208 m, so the higher terrain sits well above the valley; the longest run measures 2,660 m and the biggest vertical on a single descent is 814 m. Off-piste skiers have 7 km of marked freeride. Cross-country skiers get 43 km of trails, and 7 km of piste is lit.
