Šachtičky
About the area
Šachtičky is a small hill: about 8 km of pistes, of which 4 km are blue, 2 km red and 1 km black. Just over half the terrain is easy, so beginners have somewhere to start, but 17% is black and there are only two short easy runs next to a lift base — enough for first turns, not for a full week of learning. Experts will run out quickly: the longest single descent gives 245 m of vertical.
All three lifts are platters, so expect drag-lift skiing and no gondola comfort. The slopes run from 805 m to 1102 m with a maximum vertical of 245 m, and the longest run measures 1439 m — a low-lying area, so check conditions before driving up. Cross-country skiers get the better deal here: 61 km of tracks are available in the surrounding area.
