Ratschings-Jaufen

About the area

Ratschings-Jaufen packs about 24 km of piste into a compact area, and roughly three quarters of it is red. Only some 6 km (25%) is green or blue, so beginners get a real but limited playground: four magic carpets for first turns and three short easy runs next to a lift base. Families can manage, helped by those carpets and a gondola that avoids chairlift loading with small children. Experts should look elsewhere — black, expert and freeride terrain adds up to 2% of the area, and the biggest vertical on a single run is 546 m.

The ski area runs from 1290 m to 2141 m, giving 546 m of vertical, with the longest descent at 2544 m. Twelve lifts serve it: one gondola, six chairlifts, one drag lift and four magic carpets, so queues spread out and confident intermediates can lap the reds efficiently.
