About the area

Pila is a red-run mountain: of about 55 km of pistes, some 38 km are graded red, with only around 10 km of green and blue (18%) and 8 km of black, expert or freeride terrain (14%). That mix suits confident intermediates best. Beginners can get started — three magic carpets and four short easy runs sit next to a lift base — but they will run out of gentle ground quickly. Families get the same reservations, helped by seven gondola and cable-car lifts, so small children never have to load a chairlift. Committed experts should look elsewhere.

Sixteen lifts serve the area, including six gondolas, one cable car and six chairlifts. Skiing runs from 1,533 m to 2,723 m, so the upper slopes hold snow better than the base. The longest run measures 3,889 m and the biggest vertical on a single descent is 544 m.
