Obertauern has 87 km of pistes and the mix leans easy to middling: 46% is green or blue (40 km), with 27 km of red and only about 4 km rated black or harder (4%). That makes it a solid choice for beginners and families — there is a magic carpet for first turns, 61 short easy runs sit right next to a lift base, and two gondolas mean small children don't have to load a chairlift. Strong skiers will find it limited: the longest single vertical drop is 529 m and steep terrain is scarce.
The ski area runs from 1,627 m to 2,296 m, so the whole of it is high by Austrian standards. Twenty-eight lifts serve it, 17 of them chairlifts, which keeps queues moving. The longest run measures about 2 km. Beyond the pistes there are 24 km of cross-country trails and 2 km of floodlit skiing.
