About the area

Melchsee-Frutt in the Bernese Oberland is a gentle area: 60% of the 33 km of pistes are green or blue, about 20 km in total, and there are 11 short easy runs right next to a lift base. That mix, plus a magic carpet for first turns, makes it a solid choice for beginners and for families. Only 16% of the terrain is black, expert or freeride ground — roughly 6 km — and the biggest vertical on a single run is 493 m, so committed experts will run out of challenge quickly.

The 14 lifts run from 1,079 m up to 2,231 m and include a gondola and a cable car, so small children can be loaded without a moving chairlift. Four chairlifts, three T-bars, four rope tows and the magic carpet cover the rest. The longest descent measures 4,698 m, and there are 11 km of cross-country trails.
