Lienz - Zettersfeld

About the area

Zettersfeld above Lienz is a compact area of about 21 km, and most of it is red: 12 km of intermediate pistes against 8 km of blue and just a third of a kilometre of black. That balance makes it a solid intermediate hill, with enough variety to fill a day or two without ever being intimidating. Beginners have a workable start — three short easy runs sit next to a lift base — but only 39% of the terrain is green or blue, so progression comes quickly. Experts should look elsewhere: there is effectively no steep or marked freeride terrain, and the biggest single descent is 420 m of vertical.

Six lifts serve the mountain: a gondola, three chairlifts, a T-bar and a platter. The gondola makes the ride up straightforward for families with small children, though it is the only cabin lift here. Skiing runs from 1,671 m to 2,272 m, and the longest run measures 2,480 m.
