Les Portes du Mont-Blanc offers 78 km of pistes in the French Alps, and the mix is squarely aimed at beginners and improvers: 47% of the runs are green or blue (37 km), with a magic carpet for first turns and six short easy runs right by a lift base. Families are well served, partly because two gondolas mean no chairlift loading with small children. Experts should look elsewhere: only 10% of the terrain is black or freeride, and the longest continuous vertical on a single run is 300 m.
The 28 lifts include 2 gondolas, 7 chairlifts and a lot of surface lifts (8 platters, 9 drag lifts, 1 rope tow), so expect plenty of short, linked sectors rather than big descents. Skiing runs between 1,016 m and 1,925 m, which is low by Alpine standards, and the longest run measures 1,371 m. There are also 4 km of cross-country tracks. The area is part of Evasion Mont Blanc.
