Le Grand Massif is a big French Alps network with 171 km of pistes, and 57% of them are green or blue — 98 km of easy skiing. Beginners are well served: 16 magic carpets for first turns and 64 short easy runs sitting right next to a lift base. Families get the same benefits, plus 7 gondolas or cable cars, so small children never have to load a chairlift. Experts should temper expectations: only 15 km, or 9%, is black or expert terrain, and there is no marked freeride.
The area runs from 687 m up to 2,483 m, a spread of 1,796 m, with 72 lifts including 24 chairlifts and 22 platters. The longest run is 10,490 m and the biggest single-run vertical is 1,595 m. Snowmaking covers 40 km, useful given the low base, and 1 km of piste is lit.
