About the area

Laterns-Gapfohl is a compact Vorarlberg area with about 24 km of pistes, and the mix is unusual: half of it (12 km) is black, expert or marked freeride terrain, while only a quarter (6 km) is green or blue. Strong skiers get 2 km of marked freeride and a single run with 634 m of vertical, but the area is too small to keep experts busy for long. Beginners are workable rather than ideal — there is one magic carpet for first turns and five short easy runs next to a lift base — and families should expect the same limited nursery setup.

The slopes run from 1,140 m to 1,770 m, so snow depends on the season at these mid-range altitudes. Twelve lifts serve the hill, mostly surface: six T-bars plus platter, rope tow and drag lift, with two chairlifts and one magic carpet. The longest descent measures about 6 km.
