About the area

Kappl is an intermediate's hill first and foremost: of about 29 km of pistes, 17 km are red, 7 km blue and 4 km black. That black share is only 15%, so committed experts will run out of steep terrain quickly, even though one run drops 934 m in a single go. Beginners are reasonably served but with reservations: only a quarter of the runs are easy, though there are 6 magic carpets for first turns and 11 short easy runs next to a lift base. Families get the same mixed verdict, helped by those carpets and by a gondola that avoids chairlift loading with small children.

Twelve lifts cover the area: 1 gondola, 3 chairlifts, 2 T-bars and the 6 carpets. The skiing runs from 1,172 m to 2,639 m, so the upper slopes hold snow better than the valley return. Longest run: 3,949 m. About 1 km of piste is floodlit.
