About the area

Kals-Matrei in East Tyrol has about 45 km of pistes, split into 20 km of blue, 17 km of red and 8 km of black. With 44% of the terrain green or blue, two magic carpets for first turns and 11 short easy runs right by a lift base, it works well for beginners and for families: three gondolas mean small children don't have to load a chairlift. Only 17% is black or freeride terrain and the longest vertical on a single run is 629 m, so committed experts will run out of challenges quickly. Intermediates have the largest share of useful mileage.

The area spans 927 m to 2,421 m and is served by 15 lifts: 3 gondolas, 5 chairlifts, a funicular, a T-bar, 3 platters and 2 magic carpets. The longest descent measures 5,501 m.
