About the area

Hochkeil is a small area with 22 km of pistes, and the balance sits with confident intermediates: 11 km of red runs against 10 km of blue, and just 1 km of black terrain (6% of the total). Beginners can get going here — 44% of the pistes are green or blue, and there are six short easy runs next to a lift base — but the black share and the long descents mean it is not a dedicated learning centre. Experts have little to work with, and the area does not stand out as a family choice.

Seven lifts serve the hill: three T-bars, a platter, a rope tow and two funiculars. The slopes run from 605 m to 1,747 m, which is a low base by Austrian standards, so check conditions. The vertical is the real draw: 1,010 m in one go, on a longest run of 7,594 m. There are also 4 km of cross-country trails.
