Hoch-Ybrig is a mid-sized area in Central & Eastern Switzerland with about 24 km of pistes, split fairly evenly between 11 km of blue and 10 km of red. That balance makes it primarily an intermediate hill. Beginners can get going — 43% of the runs are green or blue, and there are eight short easy runs right next to a lift base — but 17% of the terrain is black, so novices should check where they are heading. Families should note there is only one gondola; the other lifts are five chairlifts and one T-bar, which is harder work with small children. Experts will find the 4 km of black terrain limited.
The ski area runs from 1039 m to 1830 m, so snow at the lower stations is less reliable than in high-alpine resorts. The seven lifts serve a maximum vertical of 771 m, and the longest run measures 3340 m.
