About the area

Hintertux Glacier in Tyrol offers 47 km of marked pistes, weighted towards easy and medium terrain: 17 km blue, 25 km red and just 3 km black. That mix — 37% green and blue, only 6% black or freeride-graded — makes it a sound choice for beginners and mixed-ability groups, with 16 short easy runs sitting next to a lift base and one magic carpet for first turns. Families are well served by six gondolas or cable cars, so small children never have to load a moving chairlift. Committed experts will find less here: the steep terrain is limited and the biggest vertical on a single run is 766 m.

The area runs from 1,499 m to 3,245 m on the glacier, which keeps snow reliable high up; 17 km are covered by snowmaking. Twenty-two lifts, including seven T-bars and six chairlifts, serve the terrain, and the longest run measures 4,280 m.
