Großglockner Heiligenblut

Großglockner Heiligenblut in Carinthia is a mid-sized area: 24 km of pistes, of which 14 km are red. That balance makes it a place for confident intermediates first. Beginners are possible but with reservations — 10 km, or 42% of the terrain, is green or blue, and there are five short easy runs next to a lift base, so progression means moving onto reds fairly soon. Experts should look elsewhere: only 0.3 km, about 1%, is graded black, and the longest single descent gives 581 m of vertical.

Thirteen lifts serve the mountain, running from 1234 m up to 2904 m, a span of 1670 m. Six of them are gondolas or cable cars, which is convenient in bad weather but means no chairlift loading for small children. The longest run measures 2011 m.
