About the area

Grindelwald First offers about 39 km of pistes, and the balance leans towards easier skiing: 17 km of blue runs make up 44% of the area, including three short easy descents right next to a lift base, which is why it works for beginners. There are 13 km of red and 4 km of black, plus 2 km graded expert and 1 km of marked freeride — 20% of the terrain in total, enough to keep improvers busy but too little for dedicated experts. Families can ski here with one caveat: three of the lifts are gondolas, so small children avoid chairlift loading.

Eight lifts serve the mountain: three gondolas, three chairlifts and two T-bars. The skiing runs from 1,061 m up to 2,497 m, with a maximum vertical of 834 m and a longest run of 4,987 m — a long, continuous descent back towards the valley.
