About the area

Krippenstein is a red-run mountain: of about 31 km of marked pistes, 18 km are red, 4 km blue and 1 km black. That mix suits confident intermediates who want long descents rather than variety of gradients. Beginners are poorly served — only 13% of the terrain is green or blue, with five short easy runs by a lift base and a single magic carpet for first steps. Experts will find little on the piste map: the black terrain adds up to roughly 1 km, just 4% of the area. Families can make it work, but with reservations.

Nine lifts serve the mountain: three gondolas or cable cars, one chairlift, two drag lifts, two rope tows and the magic carpet. Access is from 598 m and the top station is at 2,072 m, so the upper slopes hold snow better than the base. The longest run measures 4,318 m and the biggest vertical on a single descent is 950 m.
