Espot
About the area
Espot is a small area in the Catalan Pyrenees with about 20 km of pistes, and the balance is clearly tilted towards easy and moderate skiing: 57% of the runs are green or blue, around 11 km in total. Two magic carpets handle the first steps, and there are six short easy runs next to a lift base, so absolute beginners can repeat the same slope without long transfers. Families can manage here, though the offer for children beyond the carpets is limited. Experts will run out of options quickly: only 3 km, or 14%, is black or freeride terrain.
Skiing runs from 1,510 m up to 2,290 m, served by six lifts – three chairs, one platter and the two carpets. The longest run measures 2,110 m, and the biggest vertical on a single descent is 371 m, so laps are short and quick rather than long and demanding.
