About the area
Chopok Juh, the south side of the Chopok ridge above Demänovská Dolina, offers about 16 km of marked pistes: 7 km blue, 6 km red and 2 km black. Just under half the terrain (48%, some 8 km) is green or blue, so improving skiers and confident intermediates get the most out of it, while 14% is black or freeride terrain — enough for a few steep laps but not a mountain that will keep experts busy. Families and first-timers can manage, but with a single magic carpet the beginner infrastructure is thin.
Seven lifts serve the slopes: one gondola, one chairlift, three platters, a rope tow and the magic carpet. The gondola makes access easy without chairlift loading, useful with small children. Skiing runs from 1,084 m at the base to 1,963 m at the top of the ridge.
