Cerkno is a small area in the Slovenian Alps with about 9 km of marked pistes: 1 km green, 4 km blue and 4 km red. Just over half the terrain (5 km) is green or blue, so it works for people still building confidence, though with only two short easy runs next to a lift base the beginner offer is thin. There is nothing for experts here — no black, marked freeride or expert terrain at all, and the biggest vertical on a single run is 276 m.
Skiing runs between 945 m and 1289 m, so snow depends on the season at this modest altitude. Seven lifts serve the slopes, including five chairlifts plus one T-bar and one platter, which keeps queues and walking to a minimum on a hill this size. The longest descent measures 1477 m — a good yardstick for how much continuous skiing to expect.
