About the area

Belalp in Valais has about 39 km of pistes, and half of it (20 km) is green or blue, so beginners and cruising intermediates have the most to work with: 19 km of blue plus 13 short easy runs right next to a lift base. Three magic carpets cover first steps, which together with three gondola/cable-car lifts (no chairlift loading with small children) makes it workable for families. Experts get less: 10 km of black and around 11 km of black/expert/freeride terrain in total, 26% of the area, with no marked freeride routes.

Thirteen lifts serve the area, including three chairlifts, three T-bars and a platter. The slopes run from 1331 m to 3100 m, so the upper mountain is high and reliable; the longest descent is 2967 m long, with a maximum vertical of 758 m on a single run.
