About the area

Ax 3 Domaines spreads about 50 km of piste across the French Pyrenees, and the balance is clearly tilted towards easier skiing: 14 km green and 19 km blue make up 69% of the terrain, with 10 km red and only 5 km black (10%). That suits beginners and families best — there are 18 short easy runs right next to a lift base, plus three magic carpets for first turns. Strong skiers will run out of steep quickly, since the longest single descent drops 738 m.

The area runs from 1376 m up to 2344 m, so the top half holds snow better than the valley floor. Twenty-eight lifts serve it, including two gondolas and a cable car — useful with small children, who avoid chairlift loading. Ten chairlifts, six platters and other drags cover the rest. The longest run measures 4378 m.
