Aussois is a small area in Savoie with about 27 km of pistes, of which 54% (15 km) are green or blue. That balance suits beginners and families, but with caveats: there is only one magic carpet for first steps, so the very earliest lessons rely on a single learning lift. Intermediates get the most out of it, with 9 km of red runs alongside the 8 km of blue. Experts will find it thin — just 3 km of black terrain, 11% of the total.
Ten lifts serve the slopes: four chairlifts plus five surface lifts and the magic carpet. The skiing runs from 1,531 m at the bottom to 2,680 m at the top, so the upper sectors hold snow better than the lower return runs. Aussois belongs to the Espace Haute Maurienne Vanoise, which widens the options if you plan to ski neighbouring resorts on the same trip.
