Arêches-Beaufort
About the area
Arêches Beaufort is a mid-sized Savoie area with about 37 km of pistes, and the balance leans clearly towards easy and moderate skiing: 58% of the runs are green or blue, which is around 22 km. Two magic carpets handle first turns and there are nine short easy runs right next to a lift base, so beginners and families can progress without long traverses. Only 6% of the terrain (2 km) is black, and the longest vertical on a single run is 685 m, so committed experts will run out of challenge quickly. Intermediates get the most out of it, with 12 km of red pistes.
Fifteen lifts serve the mountain: one gondola, four chairlifts, eight platters and the two carpets. The gondola is useful with small children, since there is no chairlift loading involved. Skiing spans 1022 m to 2318 m, so the lower slopes depend on cold spells; the upper sectors hold snow better. The longest run measures 3427 m.
