Alpe d'Huez Grand Domaine in the Isère spreads 162 km of pistes across four difficulty grades, and it works for very different groups. Beginners get 89 km of green and blue runs (55% of the area), 69 short easy runs sitting next to a lift base, and 15 magic carpets for first turns. Families benefit from 26 gondolas and cable cars, so small children never have to load a chairlift. Experts have 27 km of black and freeride terrain (16%), including a single run with 1,664 m of vertical.

The area runs from 1,123 m up to 3,305 m, so the upper slopes hold snow well, and the longest descent measures 7,974 m. Of the 82 lifts, 22 are gondolas, 15 chairlifts, four cable cars and two funiculars. There are also 27 km of cross-country trails and 2 km of floodlit piste.
